🥄 Ingredients

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp saffron threads (optional)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Pinch of salt
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Date syrup (dibs) for drizzling
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

    Mix flour, cornstarch, yeast, sugar, and salt.

    If using saffron, steep in warm water for 5 minutes.

    Add water to dry ingredients, mix until smooth batter forms.

    Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

    Heat oil to 180°C. Using wet hands or spoon, drop small balls of batter into oil.

    Fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
